What is botulinum toxin

BTX is a neurotoxic protein produced by the anaerobic bacterium clostridium botulinum. Neurotoxins compromise 2 polypeptide chains, heavy and small which are held together by a single disulphide bridge. Nerves send chemical messages to move the nearby muscle, resulting in muscle contraction. When BTX is injected, it interrupts the neurotransmission stage causing Nerve endings to halt the signalling stage. The benefits of this will smooth out the skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

How long does anti-wrinkle injectables last?
Muscle relaxation will slowly wear off over time making this a treatment to upkeep every 3-5 months.
